Students will build upon their music reading and technical skills that were learned and developed in the fifth and sixth grade band. To hone these skills, the students will attend 15 minute weekly individual band lessons. Students will attend full band rehearsal two to three times a week for 47 minutes to apply and reinforce these skills as well as large group performance skills. Students will participate in three concerts (Holiday, Pops, and Spring), marching band, pep band, a solo and small ensemble contest, and graduation. Students will also have the opportunity to audition for the Southwest Iowa Honor Band Festival and the Boyer Valley Conference Honor Band Festival. Course Grading: Students will receive letter grades earned on the basis of lesson performance, performance attendance, class participation, quarterly written exams, and second and third quarter playing exams.
